Roscoe Ellis, the newspaperman and journalism professor, was born in Kansas City, Missouri in 1894. He received his Bachelor's degree in Journalism from the University of Missouri in 1917. He went on to do graduate work in psychology at Beloit College from 1924-1925, but left his graduate studies to focus on working in journalism.
